Introduction#

Good morning and Happy Star Wars Day. It’s May 4th, 2025, and welcome to the last episode of this season of “Here’s a Minute”, a short-form podcast with history, fun facts, and a prompt in a minute — or maybe a few. It’s a special day for us, with some new changes for the better. I’m Lex Wu.

Historical Fact#

And I’m Vian Vera. On May 5th, 1978, a store called “Ben and Jerry’s Homemade” held its grand opening. Originally, they also sold soup, crêpes, and pottery, but they quickly became known for their ice cream. This ice cream began making its way into grocery stores only two years after, drawing customers in with flavors, such as their most popular flavor, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

Fun Fact#

They were acquired by Unilever in 2000. The original founders, Ben and Jerry, attempted to buy the company back in 2020 — but Unilever declined. They are planning on spinning off their ice cream business later this year, though.

• What if one day, it snowed ice cream? Write the shenanigans that follow :)
