Good morning! It’s March 30th, 2025, and welcome to “Here’s a Minute”, a short-form podcast with history, fun facts, and a prompt in a minute — or maybe two. I’m Lex Wu — Vian is off this week.

Historical Fact#

In 1971, the first location of Starbucks was opened in Seattle’s Pike Place market. Unlike the coffee shops of today, they only sold hot drinks through a walk-in format. Additionally, they’re now one of the pinnacles of American capitalism - underpaying workers and slashing costs.

Fun Fact#

Starbucks was named after the first mate of the Pequod ship in Moby Dick.
