Introduction
Good morning! It’s March 9th, 2025, and welcome to “Here’s a Minute”, a short-form podcast with history, fun facts, and a prompt in a minute — or maybe two. I’m Lex Wu.
Historical Fact
And I’m Vian Vera. In the year 44 BCE on March 15th— also known as the Ides of March— Roman dictator, Julius Caesar, is assassinated at a senate meeting. Caesar was a military general who gained popularity and seized power during rocky times in the republic. Despite his general popularity with the people, many of the senators didn’t like this infringement on democracy.
Fun Fact
They started planning for his assassination back in February and got around 60–80 people to join in on the fun. Nowadays, if you want to get 60-80 people to join in on the fun, you join a cult. Just like I did! I’m having a great great time
Writing Prompts
- Betrayal! Write the worst one you can think of, either inspired by an event in your own life or made up.
- Here’s a sentence, finish writing the story. Your take on what definition you want to use. “I’ll never forget the bloody scene I just walked out of.”
